Converter to Ultraboard 2000
Hi, I did a search for a Ultraboard 2000 ... seems like someone at vbulletin.org created a converter. I want to know if that converter will work for only MYSQL database for Ultraboad 2000 ? or will it work for the DBM system ?

I would appreciate if any moderators or the pre-sale team can answer my question ...
Somewhere in this site I read that there is a converter for Ultraboard 2000, but I can't get it unless I am a registered owner of VB. I like to find out if that converter only work with the MYSQL database of UB2K or does it also work with the DBM database of UB2K ? Can someone forward this question to the owner of that converter ? (becasue that owner indicated not to send him email and I can't post a question to that thread). Thank you. |

Mist, this gentleman is not a vB owner yet - he is just asking about the Ultraboard Importer hack here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...threadid=24893 According to this post in that thread: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...dbm#post199469 the importer works from the backup of your Ultraboard, so it works for both MySQL AND DBM. |

Mist :
I didn't purchase VBulletin yet. I want to make sure the UB importer script will work before I purchase VB. Erwin provided me the link that shows that someone did succesfully convert the UB database and according to Gamecash's response, the convert will work on both MySQL and DBM file. I will look into how to do a backup for my UB database first, then I will purchase VB. Thanks for the help. Erwin, thanks for the link. One suggestion to the VB development team. It might be good to setup a free lite version of VB where it will allow only allow people to import other database and all the forum to be a read only forum. If people can successfully import their old database, I am sure they will buy the product. |

Jelsoft will not be doing this especially since this converter is a third-party hack - Jelsoft does not officially support hacks.

Erwin :
If this converter really works, why won't Jetsoft adopt that as an official converter ? This will only boost the sales of VB. Anyway, I am sure they know what's best for their company. I have one more question, you indicate that the importer will work from the backup of Ultraboard. Do you know if I need to compress the backup file into tar.gz or tar format ? |

No.... I converted my Ultraboard 2000 to vB a year ago... You need the UltraBoard installation (not the backup, it doesn't work with the backup).
I can tell you that the importer here works great... Why Jelsoft doesn't adopt it as an official converter? Because it was not written by them... But it works, and you can confirm it by reading the pages on the UltraBoard importer thread... Happy importing |
