Well as much as i'd like to leave this thread open i'm going to close it. I appreciate that you want some opinions on this business but saying bad things about a business as some people here have done so can be very harmful to a business also. I'm not criticising any of the people for this as you asked for an opinion. However if you have any problems with the business in then it's best you try and sort them out directly with them .
So if the opinions are positive, the thread stays open?

That's what is in effect being done here (and at vb.com)... It's a business... I've seen mods here and at VB.com recommend vbskins to people in the past, which has helped vbskins garner new sales, in fact, I was one of them

As quickly as they were allowed to build up a good reputation here, why can't they be taken to task if they are now faltering?

As a community member here and at VB.com, I think that it would be my duty to warn fellow community members of places not to do business.

Cheers,

~Regs.

Regs,

Whatever your personal views may be, you need to respect the decisions made by the vb.org staff. They closed this thread because the content wasn't appropriate for this forum. So for you to reopen the very same subject to complain about this in a new thread just isn't cool.

It is everyones duty to warn others if a business is doing bad business as well as good. That is why the BBB was founded.

If this site recomends a business to people and that business is not doing good business...the un-happy customers should let everyone know and should not be silenced.

I personally have had no trouble from vbskins but every business is subject for review by all and I believe closing a thread because some people say bad things about a site is wrong. Granted, this is their site and they make the rules but advice was requested and was given....good or bad should be allowed.

The same sort of discussion - positive and negative - is allowed for hosting providers, no? I'd think the same sort of policy would govern one that would govern another - ie, if it's okay to post personal opinions based on customer experiences with a host provider, regardless of whether the experience was positive or negative, it should be the same for vBskins.com. In my opinion, of course.

It's not the very same subject.

The subject is now how can community members help each other out in a fair and equitable way when making recommendations?

Perhaps a mod could move this thread to Site Feedback as I just hit new thread in here (my bad - sorry).

No disrespect was meant in starting the thread, in fact, I was hoping for some healthy debate on the merits (and pitfalls) of allowing a community to recommend for-profit organisations. I quoted only the post that spurred my train of thought, deliberately leaving out the link to the closed thread as I thought that it would lead to off-topic posts... good one

So, that being said, what is the best way for a community to help other members out in these kinds of situations? If a community allows positive recommendations, shouldn't negative ones be given equal weight and respect?

Cheers,

~Regs.

I'm sorry but i closed the orignal thread as it was subject to controversy. I saw the thread at .com closed to so please do not post a thread like this again. I encourage you to sort your issue out in private and i happen to know Xelation (MattS) so i'll try and put him in touch with you...

Once again.... closing...

so please do not post a thread like this again
You're kidding me, right?

Please at least address the intended subject I've brought up... there is absolutely nothing controversial in discussing the merits and pitfalls of recommendation policies in a community forum.

I thought I had tried to explain my intentions pretty clear in my last post.

Or just shut this one down as you see fit so that I at least know that feedback and debate is not welcome here.
