Dynamic Meta description tags.
So, here I am frustrated because my host doesn't support .htaccess changes needed for me to use TECK's VBArchive.
So I find myself boggled as to how to implement this. What I would like to have happen is to have the headinclude template give up a meta description tag that is the first 150 characters of a given thread's first post. What I am looking at is a few lines of code within the showthread.php and a couple of variables to put into the meta tag of the headinclude template. is this possible, and how would I go about it? Thank you kindly! )O( Cloudrunner )O( |

Oh, that whas exaclty what I was thinking about.
Wnd we could add: sort by Month (August, September) to the Archive as well. |

Hm, mayhap I was misunderstood. The problem is that I cannot use the archiver hack because my host doesn't support the necessary .htaccess functions for it to work. So the requested information for showthread.php and headinclude are for the "non" archive hacked board, i.e. one that does not use the hack.
That way the descriptions for each threadview would be the first few words of the thread, making the indexer have different content per thread via the description tag (If on the off chance you get hit by an indexer that still uses the meta information heavily). |
