[Request 2.3.0] Who read's the Topic

Hi there,

i have searched trought the forums, but i don't find something like this (if i have not seen something, sorry.. my english is ok but not the best )

Is it possible that, (i think) when someone post a new topic, he can switch on or off the function (like parsing urls) that all readers of this posting (without guest or just say only readers from 1 or more usergrous) are listet like who is online or something else...

i hope you understand my request, so i say thank you for reading and i wait of a answer

You mean, when someone browses a thread, that it will show who is browsing the thread at the same time..?

no, i mean that you post a thread, have a option to view who read the post.... not at the same time (this is in vb, now )

you post a thread and then you see who read it all the time....

have a list like who is online, or something like this:

Users who reads this thread:
Gary W, bloodcult, user3, user4, user5........


so someone can check who had read the thread and who not...

Now i make 2 Pictures of it, i hope that now you understand what i try to say

eg: A Stuff-Forum....... you post some importent words in this ...now you would see which user have read this... so you can say to the user: "why don't you read the messages" or something like this...

i'm not so good in programming, i know the basics, and i would ask if somethink like this was postet ion the past.

i think this is important to see which users read which treaths.

i think it is very usefull and needed in stuff-forums or something like this, so is it hard to code?

Depending on how busy your forums are, this hack could bring down your server. I'm not sure though.

Since it's checking every thread in your database to see who viewed it,then displaying it in the actual thread, and if you have lots of threads and members, well you have a problem.

this isn't a very good idea.
you probably would have to create a table that will store the usernames of the members that read the thread.

.. which isn't a big deal.

But, if you have a busy board this table is going to get huge, in a short time.
