Opening a new forum
Hi Guys, im going to purchase another VB license soon and have the following enquiry.
Is it possible for a Vb forum to share the same user database? They will be on the same webserver. I ask because the trading section on my forum has been very popular and want to expand the categories of things that people can trade, yet the new categories will fall outside the scope of the existing site. So my plan is to register a new domain and whack a forum at it. I dont want all my existing members to have to re-register and it would be cool if also their post counts could be shared and some other info as well in some custom fields that are in their user profiles. If anyone has any advice or has done anything similar id love to hear from you. Cheers Shane |

If you do a search, you will see there are many, many threads on this subject.

Thanks Amy. Is there a general 'How to' for something like this.
eg, what to modify to allow the forum to signup people as members of both automatically, share post counts etc etc and the things to look out for? |

Search and ye shall find. The basic consensus is that you'd have to be insane and have a lot of free time to share any parts of two vB forums (in addition to needing two licenses).
