Yahoo! IM - works with IM software rather than web message

okay, just a briefer. i really dislike 'web' IMs, and thats what Yahoo Messenger implements with every single forum, live journal, etc that i've seen. so anyhow, i figured out how to make it function with the Yahoo Instant Messenger program/software instead of yahoo.com. i figured i'd share this with everyone.

i've made changes to mine, which i'll post as well. i really don't like the tacky icons that yahoo makes available for 'online indicator' (why can't they just do a simple yahoo demon smiley on the 'Y!').

okay, here's the original yahoo template:

<a href="http://edit.yahoo.com/config/send_webmesg?.target=$userinfo[yahoo]&.src=pg" target="_blank"><img src="http://opi.yahoo.com/online?u=$userinfo[yahoo]&m=g&t=1" alt="Send a message to $userinfo[username]" alt="$userinfo[username]'s Yahoo Messenger Online Status" border="0"></a>

just change to:

<a href="ymsgr:sendim?$userinfo[yahoo]"><img src="http://opi.yahoo.com/online?u=$userinfo[yahoo]&m=g&t=1" alt="Send a message to $userinfo[username]" alt="$userinfo[username]'s Yahoo Messenger Online Status" border="0"></a>

if you are like me and don't like the online status button thing, i just used Resource Hacker and extracted the Yahoo tray icon and made it a gif file (attached here - just upload to your forum images folder). here's the code i use (remove spaces on the imagesfolder part):

<a href="ymsgr:sendim?$userinfo[yahoo]"><img src="{ imagesfolder }/yahoo_icon.gif" alt="$userinfo[username]'s Yahoo Messenger ID is $username[yahoo]" border="0"></a>

okay, hope this helps out some people or just corrects an annoyance (if you have one). let me know if you have any problems.

*note: this is only for people who use the IM icons in the postbit section.
