I just picked up the Sony DRU-500AX DVD/CD recorder and am curious if I got the best one available right now. Has anyone had any experience with this drive or any other DVD-RW drives?

For this kind of money, I'm afraid that you would have to do a lot more than ask nice for it.

I hate you <jk> I have been looking for this drive for sometime. After dumping my Philips DVD+RW I got a TDK 420N DVD+R+RW drive quite nice.

The Sony is a great drive as well.

I had to go this route because my home system DVD player will only handle the DVD-R/RW discs. It won't play the DVD+ discs.

You might want to check this link out, too. I just came across it. What software do you use for recording with it?
