I just got a email from my host today telling me my account was suspended diue to a large 1.7 gig database. I need some ideas peraps hacks I can install that will help drop this number down! Please!!!

I am looking for the attachments as files hack now.

Turn off avatars, attachments, limit post sizes, prune old posts, remove hacks that add bulk to the database, turn off searching. Should make database size plummet.

thanks filburt1 I will try that. I know people will not like to loos the avatar so I think I have to leave that alone. I jsut noticed i had over 400,000 posts in a usenet group. Hopefully pruning that will help!

A lot of hosts would have suspended your account ages ago..

First, prune old messages, then reindex the search index if you don't want to turn it off completely. The search index is usually a big chunk of the database.

Make sure you regularly optimize the attachments table, through phpmyadmin, as I once found when my attachment table was reading 50+ megs, that once I optimized it, it had gone down to under 5mb.

Use repair.php

OK Well i used the rep[air.php and got now have this error on my pages/. . .

FYI when I run it i do get a lot oferrors saying tanble is corrupt. . .
