Im transfering Servers but my new one doesnt have telnet!!!What do I do?
Heres what the company put when I asked them if they have Telnet or not.
We do not in any way provide any type of shell access. All items that shell access is needed for can be handled by modern ftp software and the control panel. Is there another way? |

I think I would find another host. I can't imagine trying to run a site without shell access. I can understand not letting you connect through telnet, but they should let you through SSH using a program like Putty.

There price is extremely cheap for what they offer. Its too late to find another host since I paid for six months.

You could do it the slightly-more-difficult-but-not-the-hardest way by making a backup of your database. With that backup, copy/paste chunks at a time into your new server's PhpMyAdmin until you get it all transferred. :$ This is how I do it because I'm still unfamiliar with SSH. BUT! If I ever have to move a bloody server again you can be sure I'll learn it. *hehe*
Anyway, the above method works, promise. It just might take a little longer and require a little more patience. |

i'd say just download the database whole thru phpmyadmin then upload it all in the same way, that's what i done
don't forget to drop your search index and attachments tho |

I think he means dont' transfer the actual contents of the "search index" and "attachments" tables as that can be rather intensive and .... large. But I won't speak for him.
As for PhpMyAdmin - you've checked in your server's control panel and looked around in the "mysql" area for it? If you don't have it, what host are you using, anyway? :s It may not be able to run vB. *hehe* |

Put simply you're screwed unless you have shell access. Any reputable host nowadays should offer it. If yours doesn't, move on.
