Default How to include more information on registration...

Hello,

Is there anyway I can add information to the email I receive when a new registers? Specifically, I'm looking to have their registration IP address, OS and web browser included with this email. I think the last two would be very helpful in trying to decide if two people are the same or not...very often I'll ban someone and then they'll reregister using a large ISP (such as AOL) and even though I know the posting styles are very similar, there's no way I can confirm the match. Before I ran vBulletin, I used UBB and there was an addon feature that did this, only it compiled a .txt file everytime someone registered and it added their information to this file (IP, OS, browser, etc.) That would be ideal since it keeps a running list of all your registrations and would allow for easy comparison. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Boss-Hogg,

Logician released a hack that does this. It's not very practical for really large boards.... but it really works if you can take the time to glance at every new account.

Quote:
When a new user registers your board, this hack analyzes his email, password, ip address and isp (ranged ip) against existing board members and produces a sorted list with probabilities about who this new user might be.
Here's the thread: [vB v2.2.6] Who might this New User be?

I changed the template so the user name shows up on the subject line of the email notice and I keep them in a folder. Makes this user data available (and searchable) in my email client on my hard drive without having to go look at the site or get to the database on our server.

Here's the info I get (the probability match at the bottom):

~ : ~ : ~ : ~ : ~

Subject: There is a new user [username] at [forum name]

To view their profile, go here:

Username :
Email Address :
IP Address :
Homepage :
Birthday :

Referer:
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win
Registred From: http:/www.etc.etc.etc...

Email Password :
[Another custom field] :
Location :
Biography :
Interests :

Who Might This New User Be?
----------------------------

# | PROBABILITY | USER..| ID.|....EMAIL........|.MATCHES..................
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[email] indicates user has the same email with this new user
[password] indicates user has the same password with this new user
[IP] indicates user has the same IP address with this new user
[ISP] indicates user is from the same ISP with this new user. That is, their IP range is same; e.g., 195.100.200.XXX.

Check user's profile at: http://www.etc......

~ : ~ : ~ : ~ : ~

As we moderate new members (to confirm they gave us a valid and working email address), it's nice to have already seen this notice so I can approve pending subs without having to go look at the profile information they entered at the site ..... or click on the "duplicate users grid" link in the ACP.

hth,

Talis
