im looking at turning my whole site into a new design thats vb oriented and backened.

which of the portal/index hacks are the best?

I'd reccomend vbhome_lite - it has a very low query count which is perfect for high traffic site.

If you want a portal which has calendars, modules etc go for VbPortal

well i have a video database that id like to integrate w VB protection, as well as some image galleries...

vBHome(lite) is your best bet, as it is the easiest to modify
