Running vbulletin locally help please

I know this should be posted in that thread but nobody is answering in there anymore.......please help me.

I have set everything up and removed and re-installed a couple times and everything is running...apache is running and works.....mysql is running and works and php works.

my problem is that it seems to have a cookie problem. I read every single page of posts and this issue was addresses but like the others having the problem....none of the solutions worked for me.

I put a clean copy of vbulletin in there and went to the installer and ran it....the firswt page that comes up says to click the link to proceed but it just instantly refreshes and never leaves thaqt page.....so I couldn't install vbulletin locally.

I decide to put in phpmyadmin and I do...then I create all the tables and populate them with the data from my database (the forum should work now right) but when I try to login to the admin panel...it just refreshes and never leaves the login page.

I used the cookie workaround suggested in the thread to no avail.

can anyone please help we solve this problem?

Yes as I am no stranger to installing vbulletin

Wht I did was scrap it all and installed phptriad and it all worked fine but the problem I have now today is it won't let me login to the admin panel ....it did yesterday but not today.

I even tried getadmin but it just keeps saying I am using the wrong password. I know my password is correct but I registered another name and used getadmin and it says I am using the wrong password again.

any ideas?

PHPTriad isn't very friendly, try installing either FoxServ or do a full installation of apache, php, mysql, and whatever else you may need. It's best that way.

phptriad has been very friendly since the complete install of apache, php and mysql didn't work....there was a cookie problem that I never could get any help figuring out.

I didn't have that problem with phptriad.

the latest problem I was having is traced to when I input the data from my functioning forum on the web....for some reason it then renders my login to the admin panel useless even though it still works on the forums.....

I have decided that this is not worth all of the trouble I am having and am scrapping the whole project.

perhaps someday when I am able to get some help I will attempt it again.
