Advice on Reporting Users to ISP

A few days ago I made a post asking you guys how to get rid of the most incredibly annoying users who refuse to be banned. So someone suggested reporting them to there ISP which lit a very very tiny little light bulb inside my head. :classic: So my question is how do you go about reporting people. I mean do you just tell them what they've done or do you have to show proof which is pretty tough when you prune all there posts after you reban them. And then how do you find out there real ISP, I know the guy I want to ged rid of has always had this nlt or ntl I can't remember which extension it was. But it was something like that.

I have found out (atleast this is my experience) that most ISP's dont do anything unless you receive a hack threat, or something serious happens, etc. Thats the only time an ISP has done anything from my complaint.

How about setting up an htaccess on the forum directory and have it redirect them to a page that slams them with 50 popup windows and has a virus .gif embedded in the pages? It has worked for me in the past, they never came back lol

A while ago (5 years or so) I reported somebody who had been trolling a board I frequented to their ISP and I got an e-mail back saying that the ISP had cut their service. If they did or not, the troll didn't come back

They've hacked forums lets see *starts counting* Well they've hacked it 4 times since I've been in charge of the forums. And I've heard legendary stories that he's done it many times before hand. However you can't show any proof other then some threats on AIM which can't be held against him I don't believe.

If they have hacked your forum, then they have done something illegal. You have a right to report this to their ISP threatening legal action against them, and you can report to the local police. The police will also contact this person's ISP to get their personal details. Either way, the ISP will stop this person's service.

But how can you show legitimate proof without logs? I know last time he used good old mysql to screw with the forums and that was about 5 weeks ago.

He's the kind of poster who is beyond upsessed and only a teenager who enjoys well being evil to forums. In order to report someone you need to show some kind of legitimate proof otherwise its his words against mine. And in the last few days I've noticed his real ip address has changed as well which makes me wonder even more if he's getting smarter and smarter.

Present the logs and let the ISP will do with it. If he's a teen then his parents will get pissed when their net connection gets cut for what he did.
