Ok I am really feeling bummed
Just posted this on my boards
We have had these board for close to 2 years now. For those of you who have been with us for a while you may remember when we couldn't keep more then 6 months worth of posts without having to cut them back. The time has finally come when we do need to cut back on these boards. Our present database is over 2 Gigs in size with close to 3 million posts. It has become almost impossible to manage and back up. I will probably do that this weekend. What I am considering at this point is leaving 15 months worth of posts on the trip planning boards, I like the idea of being able to go back and see what happend at "yearly" events and one years worth of posts on the "Just for fun" boards. Those numbers are not written in stone and if anyone can come up with a strong reason to do it differently I will listen. Those numbers apply to the "last post" on a thread not to the date the thread was originally started. This pruning will affect total counts on all the boards. It may end up affecting post counts. If it does I apologize in advance but there's not really a lot we can do. I hate having to do this!!!! I wish we could keep it all forever but I am running into so many problems. I can't even get a decent backup without compressing it as it exceeds the maximum file size on the version of Linux we are on... Still bumming though, I really wanted to hit 3 million posts! |

You may want to check out Xenons Archiv hack, what it does is contract the sizes of the threads and posts, and puts it into a forum, the users can't post it in, only read it. It seems it would fit.

What an incredibly productive forum you have alexi, with some forums ranging over 1 million posts contained, and having over 500+ users logged in at one time. Never saw this forum until now, but good job on the community. It defiantly shows that design is not everything, as you have the absolute default design of vBulletin, although... if you did create a very original design, your forum could be even more incredible (then again, you're quite packed as it is ;P)

alexi, if you don't want your counters (threads, posts) on forumhome to go down, you don't have to, lol.
Look at this [https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...threadid=45158] My hack If you install the modifications for threads and posts count on forumhome [index.php] your counters will rise back up to the 'posted' amount, meaning it will show the number of threads and posts that have been posted, since you installed your forums! |

off topic: I went to Disney World 2 years ago and had a great time.
Anyway, i would install Xenon's hack and see what it dose for you. What server is this thing on?. Right now there at over 700 online and its flying as fast as my forum is with 30 online. I wish overgrow.com had a server like you do (LOL). |
