Allow members to choose a usergroup
On my forum our users like to "clan" up. I was hoping of setting aside some particular usergroups that can allow a regular user to choose to be.
theres like user group: Nintendo Fan Boy Xbox Luvas Club DoD fanatics Haven things like that. So i was looking for a hack that would allow a user to choose what groups they wanted to be in. any ideas? |

hm, do you want it just when they register, or should they be able to change there group whenever they want?
the first things has been coded somewhere (request forum) the second wouldn't be too hard to do |

Well mostly when they register, but maybe an option in there profile also. I dont want people choosing to be admins or anything just selecting a group i allow them to select.

Well I think that this is a feature in vB3, but maybe you may want to talk to Chris (hellsatan) he had done something similar on a test board, for his new community.
I am sure this only consists of showing all the groups on dropdown on the register page, but my restricting the groupids for admins, supermods, mods. Then in the php code where it adds the user to the database, you can just change the value of the usergroupid to the variable of the input. |
