Hurt. Because if they don't know what's in your forums, why should they spend time to register?

well, that makes sense. what about allowing them to view the main board, but none of the forums? same thing?

Same thing IMO. The threads are what draws people to register - threads are the forums' contents. Content is what people are looking for, not whizbang graphics.

totally agree with Erwin.

I never register for a forum where I am not allowed to freely see what sort of content is posted there.

Don't see anything really hurts!

Personally i think you should restrict what they could see.

for example don't show up the offtopic, or a cheats forum or something like that, but all other show to em as an appetizer

Personally I draw the line at them being able to do things like Quizzes, Quotes, Posting etc...

Though sometimes my forums permissions jump around alot
