VO used to be first class...
I hope this isn't against the rules, but if you are considering using Ventures Online for a host, do yourself a favor and do your research first. I always thought VO was first class, but the last few days on their "Courage" server had turned me against them. The last thirty six hours of bandaids and excuses, and now after they finally realize that it is time to change out the server, the new server has a "broken" version of PHP loaded on it. They are rebuilding it now. Seems like a fresh install would be the way to go? Sorry for the rant, but I can't believe VO has turned into this.

Was with VO, and on Courage server. Not anymore.

Was this recent, or a while ago? If you don't mind sharing.

recently, like within this past year. So many problems with Courage, I had to move to the V650 plan. For what you pay, you don't get enough in return. Nice people though.

The V650 plan ended up being just an over-priced shared server, IMO.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll be brushing up on my telnet skills in the next few days. I like the people at VO too, but I can't see paying for nice people when I need a dependable host more.

They have a few new plans that they didn't have when i was hosted by them. But, even if I were still with them, their pricing structure is crazy.

BTW, its NOT uncommon to have 300-400 accounts on one server. Sometimes more. If you run a serious site, and want to build it, dedicated is the best way to go.

I never go with hosts if the price I pay isn't getting me what I want!
