Total newbie here... Question about calling java applet with php on vBulletin templat
Hello folks! I'm totally new to all of this and don't grok much of it. Here's my problem: I'm trying to call up a chat-interface-applet using javascript. One of the parameters being called needs to be echoed out by php. It is the automatic user login that should draft the required data directly from the forum. However, I have met with little success in my attempts thus far. I tried inserting a simple <?php echo "$getusername[username]"; ?> in the value filed for the parameter, and it didn't evaluate the php code, instead generating html that read value="<?php echo ""; ?>". I'm still researching the problem (today is the first day I've ever used php or dealt with vBulletin), but maybe one of you could shoot me some pointers? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading! |

Where you want the variable for the username to be, put this:
$bbuserinfo[username] The username of the member will show up in the chat applet. |

This is assuming you have the chat applet integrated into your forum. You can do this via a template and a separate php file, or you can use my hack - the vB HTML/ JAVA/ TXT Integrator - which is simple to do - just click on the link in my sig and follow the instructions.
In the chat applet code, where you are meant to put the username, put the variable that I said in the post before. |

Thanks for the help, Erwin! I'll think I'll try out your hack, it looks really nifty If I screw it up (as I would predict), I'll be back here crying for mommy
I followed your instructions, PPN. I hope I did it right. Knew I forgot something when registering, gracias for the heads-up. |
