Default Displaying VBulletin features on an external site?

Forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question, but I inherited a VBulletin board from the previous webmaster and he's left me blind with no information.

For one historical reason or another, our forum site is hosted separately from the main site. I'd like to link the two somehow, either by displaying the most recent post title or (and this is what I'd really like to do) including a small voting panel for polls.

Is this possible using HTML? The complexities of my site's inherited hosting setup mean that I'm not allowed access to install databases etc on the server, and getting the people concerned to help me do so is close to impossible. If I'm going to pull this off, therefore, it'll need to be done in a manner that only requires inserting code into .html, .shtml or plain text pages.

I've got text editing access and that's about it, so you see my problem. Is there a way?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. If any of you could help, I'd be eternally grateful.

Regards, Iain.

He may not have that information right now, as it was passed down to him.

Ian, if you don't have that info, ask the old owner to forward you the welcome email that he got when he first purchased vB.

Thanks to you for getting back to me, and apologies for the lateness of my reply. I write for the paper as well as running the website, so it's kind of hectic...

Anyway: You're right, I don't have any details whatsoever bar my control panel logon. Getting them could prove tricky, given the structure I'm working in, but I'm trying to find out where all the account details are.

Does that mean I can't ask questions here? Apologies if I've breached board etiquette.

In the meantime, given my non-IT background, I'm struggling to get to grips with VBulletin. I'd love to do the last post thing, but am beginning to fear it might be a major problem. My HTML's okay, but I'm also trying to get my head round a bunch of new stuff from databases to scripting just now, not to mention the unfathomable depths of the site I inherited.

Ach well...

Iain:

due to warez (illegal users) of vbulletin this site has restrictions in place, to answer your question. without the info no we can not answer any questions and you can not download hacks or get suport, the same applys to vbulletin.com.

Ask the owner of the board before you took it over to transfer the info to you so you can acess the members area (to install updates) and get suport and hacks.

if he dosent know how he sould email suport@vbulletin.com (i think) or ask at the vbulletin.com community forums .

also you need to add the copyright notice back to the bottom of your forum, do this by going to the footer template in the admin cp and adding

Code:
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
  Powered by: vBulletin Version $templateversion<br>
  Copyright &copy;2000, 2001, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.<br>
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
to the very bottom of the template. thanks.
