How many queries are considered as too many??

My forum homepage currently has 38, and seems to be ticking along just fine. Although I have heard people say that any over 35 is a no-no.

38 is not great, but not very bad either. How many hacks have you got?

I'm not sure how many I have...several.

In fact, there are probably still queries for hacks that i dont use anymore. But I wouldn't begin to find out which ones are needed, and which ones aren't.

Can the DB be queried from a template? Or must the query be in the .php files themselves?

All PHP code must be in either the PHP files or in the phpinclude template.
