i used to use wbb, and it had a great download section addon, where you could

-build different categoriesand sub categories, like www.download.com
-allow certein usergroups to post new downloads
-fields for description, author, link in Forum, url, report broken download etc...

would make a good hack, wouldn?t it?
[at least i couldn?s find one here at the forum...]
