Some Forums visable to some usergroups but cannot access, While some Are Invisable?
i posted this on VB.com and it seems as though it cant be done... could anyone engineer a hack for this or point me in the direction if there is already one?! THANKS!
Some Forums visable to some usergroups but cannot access, While some Are Invisable? is there anyway of doing this? for instance, My MOD forum is visble on the main page by all users, except when they click into it, they cannot see anything, it says they arent allowed in there. (i also have donated member forums which are set like this and MUST stay visable! hence the need for the hack to make select forums invisible) i'd like to create an ADMIN forum, that the mods and other members dont know about/cant see or access is this possible? or do all private forums have to either be hidden or visable thanks |

Log... does not work bro.... they can still see the forum but get this message when clicked on it
You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. Logged in user: mddtesting [logout] i honestly think some sort of hack is needed to accomplish hiding select forums |

And you have a Admin forum which both forum and messages will be invisible to everybody but admin/mods. If this is the case, then: CP vb options, be sure you have set these: Hide private forum: YES Enable Access Masks?: YES Then Forums & Moderators/Moderate Your Mods Forum: Private forum : NO Act as forum? YES Is active? YES Open for new posts? YES Your Admin Forum Private forum : YES Act as forum? YES Is active? YES Open for new posts? YES Forums & Moderators/Permissions: Your Mods Forum: For ALL usergroups that will see the forum but not messages: Choose "Use custom settings:" Can view forum YES NO to rest of them For ALL usergroups that will see the forum AND the messages: Choose "Use custom settings:" SET Can view forum, can search, Can post new threads, Can reply to own threads, Can reply to other's threads, Can view others' threads,Can edit own posts to YES. It works without a hack.. I know, because I exactly have the same system in my board |

[B] Did I get you right: You need a Mod forum and you want ALL your users see the forum itself but not the messages in it. So forum is visible but messages are invisible to everybody but mods. i cannot have my members seeing title threads in the mod forum, wont this allow that? i want them to get this message when they click on the mod forum You do not have permission to access this page. Logged in user: mddtesting [logout] and the admin forum will be visible to ONLY admins, not everyone but admins ig uess i will try one more time and follow your directions verbatum |
