I wonder if there is a hack or feature which would allow 'non linear' discussion threads.

As an example: http://www.dcscripts.com/cgi-bin/dcf...l&conf=confDCF

In this manner, a discussion thread's replies can all be seen by subject and it's easier for one-on-one interaction between posters. You can jump directly to an individual post rather than scrolling down the traditional linear discussion thread.

I think your looking for something known as a 'threaded view' and its going to be released with vb3 ...
