To save bandwidth, I'd like to change how avatars work on my forum -- disabling the usual avatars, but having a custom field in the user profile where they can put a link to an avatar file stored on their own webspace. That part's easy

What I want to do then is to make sure that any image they use fits within the allowed dimension limits.

Is this possible? :ermm:
