how would i display on the forumhome the ammount of replys the board has?

$totalposts IIRC. It's already there by default, no hacking needed.

but $totalposts counts threads started too... i only want it to count replys

Then I think you could add:

$totalreplies=$totalposts-$totalthreads;

to index.php (after those two are determined) and add $totalreplies wherever you want in your forumhome template.
