How do I incorporate other news feeds into my site?
How do I get news feeds to run on my site? I have seen sites offering both php and XML files that are their news, but I can't figure out how to put them onto my site.
Can somebody help a newbie out? I would appreciate any help anybody can offer. Thanks. |

Since the question is very general, the answer will have to be the same... Open the stream and parse it :P
An example of how to do it can be found here: http://www.webmasterbase.com/article/560 |

Sorry for getting so pissed, it's just that I have been trying to do this forever it seems and I was hoping that I had a chance of doing it, but if it's as complicated as that link made it sound then I will probably never be able to get syndicated news on my site.
I have tried Google and every result for about 15 pages is all about Moreover or how to syndicate their news onto your site without using their syndicating system. I don't want moreovers news, it's not customizable at all in the way that I need it, that and there servers are slower then hell. |

Your telling me that XML needs a program to decode the f*cker before I can do Sh*t with it? WTF Why doesn't it make it into a file that I can use, instead of wasting my server process time converting their news that I don't need that bad anyways?
That or that article isn't what I needed at all. All I need is some basic instructions on how to take so so's php or xml file they offer out to the world that has their news on it and take that file and slap it on my site so that I can have their headlines on my site. That's all I need. If this XML crap needs another program to decode it, it must suck donkey balls. :disappointed: |

First of all, there is no need in bouncing off the walls here. You asked a very general question, and I provided you a link to help. Have you even searched the web to look for something that might help you?
That link I gave you was the first result of my search on google. You cannot include an xml file directly into your page. It has to be parsed somehow - period. As for the different PHP-files, of which you have provided no examples, depending on what output they give, you might or might not get away with just including it on your page. |

Take a look at this script!
http://www.pcforen.de/tools/news.zip It is for phpBB but I'm quite certain it is what Gutspiller is after! I'm not sure how you would convert that for vBulletin but I'm sure one of u techy elite people know how |

There a few news scripts that can do this here - do a search in the Full Releases forum for them.
