Post Count
I'm liking that the post count was disabled in the postbit template (at least in the "green" theme, I don't know about the other themes).
I'm considering doing this at one of my forums because the members gripe too much about post count this and post count that. What is the member's feedback on this board about it. Do you notice it, like it, dislike it? Personally, I think it's great! |

Personally (and this might just be me), post count didn't seem to be such a big deal on this board in particular (people seemed to 'spam' for hack count rather than posts).
My personal feeling on post count on my boards is that yes it's a pain that people are so preoccupied with post count. But at the same time I remember when I was a newbie and it kind of helped to show who had been there and been around. |

*waves* Hey Vil! Nice to see you again! You have a point on the post count for this board, it's not a biggie like hack count. And I agree that it might help out to see who's been around on the boards (I'm familiar with all of your boards, and I'm sure you know I'm referring to CB ((ugh))). Our members are so ungrateful if they lose a post! We've tried the "delete posts without changing post count" hack, but that seemed to be a flop. We've tried creating forums without adding post counts in those forums (introductions, games, etc), but that doesn't seem to appease the masses. Also, tried doing a mass cleaning every few weeks or so, but that still drops the count which results in mega-griping. I guess the two don't really compare, though, as you stated since this board isn't focused on post count as much as another board might be. :s Originally I intended this thread to discuss feedback of this site, but it may turn into a general board discussion. If it needs to be moved, please do. :s Sorry if it's now in the wrong forum. *lol* Anyway, I'm still interested in hearing feedback concerning post count here and your ideas on how it would affect other boards. |

good decision. i would recommend this mod also:
"number of users" that installed a specific hack only visible to hack creators. in this way, other users will not try to raise some "competition". i would put this link inside of the showthread.php, to show under the title, or near "Users browsing this thread" text. let me know what you think firefly. |

(And omg on your board Rose, the uproar when the delete posts without reducing post count hack didn't work and people lost thousands of posts - not to be believed that people could complain so much!) |

honestly, in my oppinion, it doesnt really matter how many posts you have. i have over 800 posts.. and i was helped by a guy with 20 posts (Zzed).

*lol* Were you there when that happened? ((I don't see you much there anymore)) I don't remember the particular hack problems we had, but they always complain. *lol* I think the user titles can be helpful, but many boards don't have user titles that are set (they are customizeable). At least I know of several that are. Anyway, that wouldn't help with those who've been around longer, but then again, post count would still be in the profiles. Also, I have the join date on our postbit, so that helps to see who's been around for how long - more accurately! *lol* |

At my site, we've never had post counts. ever.
we do, however have shinra's point hack and konoman's RPG bar hack to encourage activity. Post count never comes up, although spam does, but at my forum, it's encouraged |

I do quit enjoy that they also took out the number of hacks. It makes it so people wont try to spam up the full releases. It makes this forums much more uniform
