Is there any easy way to make it so if you set a forum to private, not only admins and mods can see/access it, but a custom user group called let's say.. private members or whatever?

Admin CP => Forum Permissions.

I mean by selecting "Is a private forum" option when you add/modify it.

Err, go to forum permissions, and edit the usergroup you want to allow access to that forum.
