Ok so I finally found some books on PHP and SQL and stuff...But I have a book on SQL and Microsoft SQL. Is Microsoft SQL the same as MySQL? What's the difference if not? Thanks!

mySQL is quite different from M$ SQL. The Structured Query Language has differences, the programs have different features (SQL has stored procs & triggers, mySQL doesn't) and functions (different functions for manipulating data).
