Would it be possible to rewrite the import script for vblite to just import the users from a normal vbulletin panel?
I don't know enough about MySQL to know what I'm doing, but I'm going to look at the code for it tonight. As anyone tried this? Any luck? Any ideas? |

heh your computer sounds alot like mine except I have a 1800+ XP and 1024mb DDR
Anyway it is hard to import from one vBulletin to another mainly due to the chance of usernames that are already existing and if you can't import the users than the topics imported will have wrong postuserid's and everything else which links back to the user table in a way. |

Accually, all I'm really interested in doing is importing the users.
I can do this manually in MyPHPAdmin and MySQL but I'd rather have a script that does it for me I have a 130 member forum right now, and I want to import the users from a site I'm taking over with like 330 users, many with the same usernames though. My idea is, if I can isolate the double usernames, and remove those, I would just add, lets say a 20, to all their user id's, so that the person with a user id of 1 on the importing forum is now 201, 202, 220, 250, 350, etc... until I have imported all of the people. The thing I'm concerned about, is will vBulletin start creating user ID's for new members at the end of where I stop, like if the highest was 450, 451 would be next? Or would it fill in the gaps, like 141, 142, 451, etc... Or worse yet... would it overwrite users. |
