Need a custom hack - can pay!!!

Ok, I have a couple hacks that we need for our board. Since I've received no response to my request, I'll offer to pay this time. If you can write the hacks, and have time to do it fairly quickly, PM me or write turbo@nothnbut.net

Man, I can't even PAY somebody to do the hacks I need

It is probably not that no one wishes to do them (even for money), just some people don't have time to do them. Most hacks are made on the members own time, when they have it, if they have it. A lot of the members here that do the hacking, also do website designs and such, so that backs them up pretty good (I can vouch for that, I used to do a small amount of web design).

Along from doing designs, many have busy websites that have to be maintained or managed in some way, shape, or form; that takes even more time up.

If you will notice, there have not been too many new hack submissions latley, I have noticed it. The reason (I believe), is just because people are busy with their lives, work (such as some are working on the dev. of vBulletin), and other things, that they just don't have the time to do that many hacks.

I for one am thankful that there are this many released at this time, without the help of the people here, I would not be able to constantly test out and add new features to my board when I want.

I don't mean to come off as getting on your case, if it seems that way, sorry, just stating some facts. I am sure a lot of people would love to jump up and take you up on your offer of paying them, just applies to what I said above though.

Keep asking around, I am sure you will be able to find someone who is not busy or real busy that would love to do it.

I think the main reason why there are getting to be fewer and fewer new hacks for vBulletin is that vBulletin already has so many features to begin with, and most of the big ideas for improving it have already been addressed as hacks. There just aren't that many new, original ideas anymore that would be of interest to many people. I think that many of the newer hacks are only of interest to just a few people.

TurboFC3S, I considered trying to make these hacks, but decided not to for a few reasons. The big reason is that I'm not sure I could do them. My skills aren't up to the level where I could just crank something big out in a few days. It would take me at least a week, maybe two or more, of working on it a lot, going through a lot of trial and error, etc. And during this time of me focusing on your hack, how do I know that someone else isn't also doing it? There's no way for me to know that after working on this long and hard, someone else won't release the same thing the day before I do, and get paid and me get nothing. And the payment is another thing; it would be nice to know up front what kind of $$ you have in mind.

I guess what I'm saying is that I might be open to discussing some type of contract-like deal, where we would agree that I would work on this for you for $xx and would have results within a certain time frame, and that if someone else published their own solution before that time frame was up, you would wait to see if I came up with anything before paying that other person, giving preference to me.

Couldn't a hack like this be adapted to do what I need it to do? Seems like the same idea, but only applies to forum home.
