Ok, 2.2.2 has been released. Is there anyone out there than knows exactly what files where changed to make it easy for a heavily hacked forums to upgrade?
This is the part I dread... |

i have made this file already and have got permission from John to post it. As this is only a Release Candidate and there may still be bugs in it, I plan to leave it until the final version of 2.2.2 is out which should be in a couple of days.

I may be missing something here, but wouldn't it be better if you posted the file changes before the final is released. I'm thinking that:
1. Those that will update their boards with RC code will do so anyway. 2. This would just make it easier/quicker for those that do want to update their boards... meaning that more boards will be testing the RC code... which gives a better chance at discovering bugs....which would lead to a better final release code and fewer bug fixes after release. ...And a better final code is, after all, John's goal for releasing this as a RC anyway?? Just a thought. Steve |

No because they we would end up with two versions circulating and that could mean that some people would be running the 2.2.2 release candidate and others final. So I will wait until the final version is out, this should be too long now.

Aren't we talking just about a simple list of which .php files have been changed? The developers already list which templates have been modified. Although possible, it's not likely that a previously unedited php file in RC would end up being modified in the final release. And even if this were so, and your list of files had to be updated, we're talking about users that already hack their boards (otherwise they would just upload all the files in the RC) and are used to making changes. I'm not looking for this list myself as I've already done the comparison and have identified the changes. Once the final is out you simply re-compare the final w/ the RC to see if any new modifications are made and then modify your own file. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be argumentative... I'm just not following your reasoning.

John says wait till final, thats the top reason
The file only lists the changes in the php files, you have to upoad the new vBulletin.style and run upgrade15.php thats about the only changes you have to make. |

Sorry, I guess we're talking about two different things.
