Our attachment db has grown quite large, and is pushing us to buy extra storage space from our ISP. Most of these attachments are in threads that are long since dead and gone.
Is there a hack that will eliminate (prune) attachments based on the date of the last view of the thread? Or some other way to clean this database without affecting the text of the posts? I'd like to keep our threads around for a long time, but I don't care if the attachments stay. |

Tubedogg's Admin Functions hack will let you prune the attachments and leave the text. It doesn't check for last thread view, though. It's a very nice hack:

Thanks. That would be a very good starting point.
Maybe I could hack it to display the last view date with the attachment? I'll get to it when I've upgraded. |

Is there a way to make a hack that would search through and see which attachments are still actually in use on the forum, and let you delete those that aren't still in use?
Or does the attachment actually get deleted from the db when you delete a thread? My db is going to get WAY out of hand as far as size in the near future...and I want to get a handle on it before it gets critical. |
