I moderate a VERY busy Vbulletin site. Unfortunately about 6 months ago our admin disappeared. Doesn't even answer emails. Since then, all of the mods but me have gone. I'm the only one left, and I'm not even a supermod.
The site is still real busy and we are having some problems with the boards, technically speaking. Also, we are in desperate need of a mass prune. I'm the only person left, and without supermod powers I am helpless except to delete threads one at a time and that is taking forever. Any suggestions on what I can do? There must be a way for me to take control of this board and fix it. Of course, this being a vbulletin site, you can't probably give me a hack into admin - unless a kind user wants to email me one, LOL. But is there something legal I can do? |

How about buy your own license and migrate the members to your new site?

Do you have access to telnet/ssh into the account where vBulletin is stored, or do you have access to the database? If so, you could just change stuff there.
Or like Amy said, just get your own license and migrate the users... |

But then he'd lose all the posts and member info, since he doesn't have access to the database to save and transfer the info, and I don't think he'd wanna do that.

Well ... this one board I used to goto myself had an admin that was never around and didn't give a **** about the forum. Eventually the members all left for our board (yay for recruiting!) and another that one of the mods set up.
In all of the things I have seen on the net (and we all know there is tons of sick and twist crap out there) it was the first time I've moderators strike. Very sad, but very amusing too. |

Who pays for the hosting then, if you're the only one left? If you can get access to the database, you can create a new admin account or change the password on the existing one. I believe that vB stores the paassword after the PHP crypt() function has been used so you could create a form that takes the input say, "smile" and crypts it then echo/print it back out. HTen you paste that into what ever is alrready in the database. You can then access the Amin CP. This would require read and write access to the database through something like phpMyAdmin and someone who can write that form for you (I had it somewhere... from a friend) Just some ideas..... Try contacting who ever pays for the hosting and see if they help you out.
