Move Folder attachment
Hi guys,
have a question about the attachment folder in vbulletin, i have already moved the attachment from database to a systemfolder, But as this is taken a lot of space on my hosting, i would like to change the hosting folder to another space, i did not found any idea how to do this, if somebody have already done, thank you for help ! |

It doesn't matter if you host it in the database or filesystem, it would take up space regardless. You can use symlinks on Linux to perhaps achieve what you want, you might have to reach out to your host about it.

The path depends on the location of your forum.
For security reasons, the path should be under the web root. If your forum is at the root, try Code:
../FolderAttachment__Name Code:
../../FolderAttachment__Name |

Simple, you would need to mount the off site folder via fstab, then symlink it/the folder, then change the path in vb to the symlink/name you made for the offsite mounted dir.
You'll need to use nfs to achieve the off site mount. If the connection isnt fast, it will probably timeout etc on uploading via vb, if its nic to nic it would be fine. you'll need root access on both boxes to setup nfs & the mount in fstab |
