Good Day,
I was viewing my forums the other day, and noticed the anxiety that was produced, because the users were trying to download attachments and would find some files that contain viruses. I was wondering if you could create a hack that could scan the attachments for viruses before they get uploaded. For example, Hotmail uses McAffee services to scan for free all attachments in emails. Is there any way a hack can send a message to a virus scanner to scan all attachments on forums? I'm not sure if it's possible, but today almost anything is possible I do not know if someone else has thought of this, since I have only been around this particular forum once. But do not worry, you'll be seeing plenty of me in time If you have made such a hack or intend to make such a hack or have noticed such a hack somewhere, please let me know, because it will be safer for both me and the users to download attachments that do not have trojans, viruses, etc. Thank you for Reading, |

may be possible
when files are uploaded they are stored in a temporary directory on the server, usually /tmp If you can find a shell based virus scanner you could probably get the attachment function to run it before importing it to the database. Scott |

proove me wrong, but if you got your own dedicated server, cant you just install some virus scanner, put a cronjob to let it run every hour or so (mind the server load) and have it report or better yet kill all the files that are malicious?!
a perl script could start the scanner and if a file was found a mail could be dispatched - I dont have any idea however if it would be possible to fork this into vb |
