On all light skins, but seems to work fine on dark. Immediately logging in or switching to a light skin, it works. But clicking away, then it no longer drops down.

Any input to cause?

Hard to say when we don't know the URL's of your site and different skins on which it doesn't work. Good chance it's a style issue or JavaScript collision with another script.
