vBulletin 4 Request - Update vbsocial Wall

I'm trying to update vbsocial Wall to work properly on vb4.2.5 but am having issues. I'm not much of coder and tend to get lucky. Has anyone managed to get this to work with 4.2.5 or would anyone be interested in helping? Here are some of the issues I still face (that I'm aware):

1. Display an error if the character limit set in options is exceeded
2. regex to detect Youtube videos not working
3. Link preview not working. An empty preview image is generated and added to the status post as file location text, not HTML

Here's some of what I've fixed already (that I can remember):

1. Commented out plugin code to remove "no user specified" error. Pretty sure this bit of code also allows users to post on someone else's wall but I haven't figured out the proper way to fix it so users can only post on their own wall
2. attached/uploaded images are shown with HTML instead of just the location in text

This product is full of bugs and no longer maintained. You shouldn't invest your time here, especially when you are not a coder.

While I appreciate your opinion, I don't have much of a choice. The community leader (my boss) wants this and it's not up to me to say no. I will continue to work on this regardless; I just wanted to see if anyone else was interested in fixing this as there aren't any alternatives/replacements that I've found.

Your best bet is probably to post a paid service request, it would probably take several hours of debugging to fix all the bugs you mentioned.

The problem is vBSocial is not marked as reusable code and the developer cannot be contacted for permission. His website is offline. Therefore, the only way to modify the code is illegally. I'm sure someone is willing to do that but it isn't me.

Modifying the code is not illegal, as long as you keep it to yourself on your own server.

Well I don't mind to take it. The mod's author seems to make enough with this product. It has been full of bugs since it started. Then he disappeared so I think it is ok.

@OP: I'm afraid no one would do that for free because it is a complicated mod. You will have to request for a service.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I was already aware of the legalities of redistributing the code but as mentioned, if I'm only using it on my own server it should be fine right? I paid for this and many other vbsocial mods back in the day and have tried every possible method to ask for help or permission. I can't find any evidence that he has been active on any project or community for several years. Even his Linkedin is inactive.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to pay anyone for this work at this time so I'll just have to keep at it. I fixed the Youtube parsing last night. I'm not going to mess with the link previews for now. I just need to fix it not posting to other user's walls now.
