This modification should work in any versions of vBulletin. I say modification because, this really isn?t a ?hack? as it is defined, but it is a nice trick if you want to give your posters the ability to spell check their posts without having to use another software program like MS Word.
It does require a little copying and pasting to use, but it does work well, and is 100% free.
I wanted to make this trick available to the posters at this board after hearing a few people ask how we did it on our forums.
This idea/implementation is due to the combined efforts and ideas of myself and the other owner/administrator at SWFans.Net, Nupraptor.

Well, the spellchecker tags are actually commented out in the newreply, newthread, editpost and priv_sendprivmsg templates ... I removed the comment tags and regustered/downloaded the needed files from spellchecker.net
Although the one you specified is the simpler way of doing it, even though I probably won't try it to see if it works, coz I already have spellchecker enabled

Unless I'm mistaken, the version at www.spellchecker.net requires you to pay them a certain amount of money to use their service. I actually noticed the commented tags, but realized that I would have to (at the very least) sign up for and download their banner-laden software. This version, while not quite as advanced as spellchecker's (you have to actually copy-paste the message in the pop up window) is completely free and lacking advertisements. Plus, as Mr. SWFans mentioned, it's very simple to implement.

Hmmm, I didn't pay anything when I registered to download mine ...

On the contrary, when I tried this one on my other boards, the ads are still there on top so I have to disagree with that statement.

Well, that's the one thing good about this one ... it might actually work with other message boards too
