Default Possible to have different desktop and mobile themes?

Hello,

I have a non-responsive desktop theme which I don't want to change. But this theme is not responsive and currently the site is not mobile-friendly. I want the site to be mobile friendly and its okay if the desktop and mobile themes are different as long as it is completely mobile-friendly.

1. Is it possible to do this? Have separate desktop and mobile themes? If yes, I will need instructions (if they are not provided in the theme documentation).
2. Which mobile themes do you recommend? i only know about Metro.

AdminCP > Settings > Options > Style & Language Settings > "Default Style for Old Mobile Browsers" and "Default Style for Modern Mobile Browsers". Also make sure the mobile style is enabled under AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager.

I don't know of any other mobile styles besides the default mobile style and this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=249277

Thanks, Dave!
Do you have any idea if mobile styles are sold separately? If that is the case, then what does 'responsive' mean? For example, there is this style Metro. It is a responsive theme but they are also selling a 'mobile' version. Isn't the mobile version included in a 'responsive' theme?

For example
Metro for vB: https://themeforest.net/item/metro-a...-and-5/3555714
Metro for Mobile vB: https://themeforest.net/item/metro-m...tin-42/4013274

The term "full responsive" means that the theme will automatically adjust itself according to the screen resolution of the device that is used to browse the forum.

In the case of Metro, the first link adjusts itself according to all resolutions and the Metro Mobile theme is used for mobile devices only, which you can configure in the setting in my previous post.

Just keep in mind that the responsive Metro theme is not all that mobile friendly, I assume the Metro Mobile theme is specifically made to be mobile friendly.

I get it. So if I want to do what I mentioned in the first post (keep my current theme for desktop and have Metro for mobile visitors), my best bet would be to buy the 'Metro Mobile'.

Do you know if there are any issues displaying ads in the mobile version?
I mean, the ads that are placed in AdminCP > Advertising.
I see online people having issues with that when they use any mobile version theme.

Also, can you tell me how to force users to only view the mobile site when using a mobile/tablet? And not be able to view the desktop version.

I believe the mobile theme has less advertisement locations implemented, but you could easily manually add more ads to the mobile theme by copying over the advertisement hook template code.

There's no way to force mobile users to use the mobile theme (and no option to switch theme) without making a modification.

Why would you want to do that ? Especially on a tablet.

I can view desktop sites perfectly well on my tablet, and would be very irritated if you tried to force me to do otherwise.

Is there any plugin for that?
Or easy way of modification that you mentioned?

Because the theme I have currently is extremely non-responsive and everyone who comes to the site on a mobile phone (99% from Google) leave it in a second. So I want it to be completely responsive. I don't know about tablet and it doesn't really matter anyway since the site has almost zero tablet traffic.
