Will vbulletin ever do a portal add-on? I would love a simple front page for my forum.

You jest? I just looked at the install.txt file for portal 3.0 and it's far from being satisfactory or complete. I beleive this to be the root cause of many install problems (check out the forum, which folder do I put the scripts in askes a few members) and it's not a stupid question either, maybe they should work on it.
I have mixed feelings about portal and when it might be finished and wither I would risk commiting to my forum??? On the one hand I would love it, on the other Hmmm. |

Hmmm, I'm using vBPortal 3.0 PR6 on vBulletin 2.2.0 and it seems to be working stable
You can see it at work here: http://www.opentechsupport.net/ It's still the best hack for vBulletin for me |

I looked at the install script, the instructions are dire. The instruction:
Directory: /public_html.......................(vbPortals root directory) Instead of the public_html, you can put into any sub-directory you choose. Directory: /public_html/forums................(vBulletin root directory) i.e. If you install vbPortal in a subdirectory called vbPortal, then it would be /public_html/vbportal/forums. WHAT would be? what is being referred to here, a path? what path? in the config file? where in the file? Step 5 & 6 well more work lads, think from a newbie point of view. Alas until I see install instructions which are clear and concise I will have to leave well alone. ps Crinos your forum looks great. |
