Move VB4 to subdirectory and install WP on root
Hi All
Greetings! I have VB4 suite installed on my server root and everything is working fine. So, if i open www.website.com - i see the VB4 CMS home page and on www.website.com/forum.php i see the forum home. I have disabled blogs. Now i want to disable the VB CMS and replace it with WordPress. From some of the threads that i looked up here, i understand that I have to move all VB4 files from root to a folder, ex. community and make site URL changes in admincp. Once all this is done, I can easily disable the CMS product and install WordPress in root. However, I get decent traffic from search engines and want to be sure i do not break the SEO here. So in this regard, I have the below queries: 1. The URL of my threads is - www.website.com/threads/ID-thread-title and the URL of my subforums is - www.website.com/forums/ID-forum-title. From my understanding, the new URL after movement will be www.website.com/community/threads/ID-XXX. This will give me lot of dead links and all Google cache will also be lost. So, what type of 301 redirection is needed so that i do not get any broken links and lose out on SEO. 2. I am planning to use VBSSO for syncing WP and VB. Do i need to keep anything else in mind while implementing this? Many thanks for your replies and help. |
