If I go to create a new page I get a error = You cannot remove a system module from the page template.

I have not deleted any system modules that I know of

I am sorry I am very newb to VB, I feel good that I got it installed LOL

Hello and welcome to vBorg!

We all were new to vBulletin at one point, so nothing wrong with that.

Did you make any kind of template edits whatsoever?

IDK
I'm not sure what I did or what I may have done. It doesn't matter what template I select it gives me the same error.
I made a couple new pages not knowing what I was doing, they are saved as templates. I just tried making a new page not from a template that I made and it let me do that.

I'm probably the greenest, green horn here. I can read and learn and have figured out a few things, but I am far from a coder.
This is what I got so far and my head hurts from banging it against the wall http://uniquebaggers.com/forum/

Well, we learn by doing that's for sure and what I recommend is that you set up a dev site either on your server or on your hard drive so that you can make changes and experiment with different things without messing up your live site.

What I recommend doing at this point (and bear in mind I use vB 4.2.x), is to revert all of the templates you changed (they will likely show up in red if vB 5 is like vB 4 in that regard), but first save any templates you want to keep on your hard drive as text files so you don't completely lose all of your work. See if that at least gets your site running again.

Hmmm. Seem that when I make a new page I am applying it to all pages. I didn't loose all my work just went back to the Default Forums Page Template.

I think I have banged my head against the wall enough today. It's back to what it was

You're welcome!

Okay at least your site is running...I suggest that you post questions about what you are trying to do as there are many knowledgeable and helpful folks here with vB5 experience and who can likely offer good advice on how to meet your goal(s).

Will do. It's some of the simplest things giving me frustrations. I'm trying to do searches here on the forums and Look up things I want to do in the VB manual.

Things that are frustrating me now are

Background image. I can't' seem to change it and I know it's probably so simple. I just can't even get the color to change. So I keep reverting and trying another background option to change.

Also the color of the Categories, that's driving me crazy

How much experience do you have with HTML/CSS? When I first started my admin gig, those were the first things I studied.

Told ya I was a greenhorn.

Sometimes I wonder how I got my other web page finished and running this is my money maker and what I do for a living. http://gaugemodz.com/

I am better slinging wrenches and working on bikes. I am a nerd with a 200+ Hp supercharged Harley. I'm by no means a coder.

Well, I can certainly relate to turning wrenches and coaxing more hp from an engine.

You certainly don't have to become a web-coding guru to be an effective vBulletin administrator, but I do suggest learning the basics of HTML/CSS...you will find just knowing this will allow you to figure out how to do lots of useful things on your site.

I have helped a bit on a vB 5 site, so if you want, set up a temporary admin account at your site and shoot me a PM with the login credentials , and I will be glad to come over and see if I can address some of these issues.
