I need help fixing forum and an admin

hi, i'm in need of a forum admin, server admin to get my forum back online.

it's hosted on hostgator.
the site reports database error.

i'm willing to work with a trusted admin who knows vb and hg very well.

i'm just not knowledgable in this to get the forum back up or have the time.

my site is ls1truck.com and it's been around for years.

hostgator reports the forum is down due to many bot hits and not being optimized.

is there anyone willing to help or provide a service for this?

Upon review it looks as though this account is actually hitting against the resource restrictions in place on all shared and reseller servers. This forum needs to be optimized pretty heavily. The logs show that all running processes were vbseo.php, which is very common to cause a high load issue with vbulletin. I noticed, however, that it looks like you are getting hit with bot registration abuse, which would indicate that you need to secure your registration (and probably the login) page. Doing so should work to reduce the load on your site.

Well Hostgator isn't exactly a great hosting company with its endless list of limitations for shared hosting. If you have quite some visitors already then all the bots will only make it worse, have you ever considered moving to a VPS? A VPS will give you more flexibility and a lot more resources.

By looking at the access log you posted, it looks like they attempt to create accounts. The problem is that such bots don't respect robots.txt files and banning their user agent is not going to work out because it uses different user agents.

Do you have any anti-spam/bot plugins installed already?

My first advice would be to get a better host. HostGator is cheap for a reason.

If your max connections per hour is set to "1", I'm guessing something was changed recently, that's unbelievable. Are you on shared hosting?

What are the stats of your VPS? Seems like it's still extremely limited for a VPS... although it's Hostgator after all.

ok, i'm not sure if it was changed or what value it should be but i'm open to anything.
like i said, the forum has ran decent for years, i've done a few things, like captcha and upgrades, but i'm lost on this.

it could be some limitation of hostgator

Note that those hosts are unmanaged, you'll have to set up everything yourself (or get someone to do it for you) such as the webserver, MySQL, PHP, etc.
