I would like to be able to tell how many times announcements have been read. Sometimes I get the feeling that they're not being read by very many people, and I'd like to be able to tell.

Here's a better idea: Some way to make it a LOT more noticable when there is a new announcement. People just don't seem to notice them on my site.

Make the background color of the announcement row very bright, or use big text.
