Verification emails not being sent
Hi everyone,
I asked this on the .com forum and tried the one posters' suggestions (Try TLS instead of SSL. Also, make sure OpenSSL is complied into PHP) and this didn't do the fix. Need help... My activations emails were working fine being sent from php on my server. I switched to send from my gmail account via and now new users are not receiving activation emails at all. See the attached, do I have my settings correct? (I want to send from gmail because of AOL users who have old spam protections that block my godaddy servers) Any help would be great! PB |

We are getting gmail errors, so we set smtp through a working godaddy web mail address that aol accepts email from. So much for that idea. ALO must be flagging the proxy tagging. At least the emails are going out with this proxy setting to everyone else.
What is everyone doing here with aol spam controls? How are you getting new user verification emails to aol accounts? Before buying VB4.2 and installing it on my godaddy hosting account I called around at several big hosting companies and they say the same thing... aol is a problem. I just assumed that smtp would be a work around. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Now we have tested two other smtp connections and we are getting similar errors to the gmail errors. My developer thinks that godaddy is blocking smtp for everyone but their own servers. So I called godaddy and found out that this is indeed so. WARNING! Do not host at goodaddy.
Can some someone here recommend a hosting company that has no issues with AOL? My developer thinks that changing the host to anyone but godaddy will allow smtp gmail to work and through to aol accounts but at this hair pulling point I want assurances that the new host is not AOL blocked. New host needed! Recommendations please Thanks thanks thanks! Need a host, please advise. |

You need to use your own hosting account email account as gmail has never worked for me either.
And when you make an account don't make it like.. admin@mysite.com or info@mysite.com or noreply@mysite.com Use personal name like Michael@mysite.com Hope this helps. |

hello VBforumguy
if you are using Gmail as webmaster then that's okay ! if you are using email same as blahblah@Yourwebsite.com then, you need to check "Spam" (Junk). since that email not whitelisted.. however follow this step : admincp -> Settings -> User Registration Options Send Welcome Email = YES Verify Email address in Registration = YES |
