How to transfer threads to a new vB Version
Hi, I am currently running vBulletin 4.0.3 and want to downgrade to 3.8.7 but want to save all the settings and transfer them over to the 3.8.7 version... This including threads, categories, users, usergroups etc.
How can I do this? |

Why not upgrade to 4.2.2?

Because I want to downgrade to 3.8.7 as I like that more.

Impex...
Create a new site in 3.8 and then import using Impex. I am not sure why anyone would go back rather than go to the latest 4.2 but your choice. You will lose settings and things like that but you will keep your threads, users, etc.. |

You'll keep the posts, threads and users etc., but lose every single link to posts, threads, userprofiles and so on. This is not only going to hurt your SEO badly, it will also break the internal links in your posts, linking to other threads etc.
If you don't have a real, like real-real, good reason to go backwards using Impex - don't do it. Don't. |

Yeah if you must, must go back to 3.8 your best bet might be to hire someone to roll it back to vb 3.8 instead. Its not something that you can just lightly do in five minutes or less with little to no knowledge.
