New members creating usergroups before verifying accounts
I am having a problem with new users creating user groups and showing up as having visited the forum in the last 24 hours, yet when I search the members list they don' turn up, and can only been seen in the CP Admin control panel, but show up as members who have registered, created a user group, but have not followed through with e-mail verification to verify their account.
I checked the e-mail and it is a spammer e-mail address. So how do I stop this from happening? Turn off the user group function? And how do I do that? Thanks. |

There are Groups Permissions for each usergroup in the Usergroup Manager.

Thanks for the reply. I had a look around the admin CP and found these. I am thinking it may be easier to just manually ban such groups or not worry about them as I have been unable to locate an off switch for all usergroups. Personally I don't understand the point of user groups as I have different forum sections that act as the same thing and would prefer to get rid of them if they are going to be a back door for spammers.

If you don't want them, why not just turn them off?

I had a quick look in the admin cp and will have another look to see if I can work out what to turn off. Sorry for the dumb questions I am a classic textbook newbie.

ACP --> Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager, edit the offending usergroups and look for the setting block titled, Groups Permissions
