Default Download Style and all Addons

Hi!

Is it possible to download a style including all (changes in) the Addons?
I've got 23 items in the Add-On Dropdown and I don't want to download each Add-On one-by-one and then merge them again into the new Style?

Any ideas?

Best
Malte

If you're worried about whether or not plugins you've installed or created will be compatible with your new style? If so as long as the template hooks that those products use are present in the new style they will work without you having to do anything. If they don't then either you'll need to add them in or the product just won't show that particular information on that style.

thanks for your reply!

no it's not that they are not working, they are working fine!

It's just that for example I made changes to vbcms.css (vBulletin-CMS Add-On) or changes to DownloadsII templates

I would need to download them each individually and then merge them

As long as your new style is a child or descendant of the one that you made the changes to those changes will be propagated down to all child/descendant styles.

thanks again

I know that using child themes this "problem" does not really occur - but this is not what I need.

I simple want to backup / archive or whatever the whole theme with all template adjustments

Either to have 2 servers (dev / prod) to work on themes or else.
And I don't want to keep looking at red or orange flagged templates, they should all reset and be like a clean, new style

But I guess there is no alternative

The best way to do that is to go to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload Styles - and then look at the top under the heading "Download". Choose the style in the drop down, give it a title, tick "Get customizations made only in this style" and then click the "Download" button. This will give you an XML file that you can back up somewhere and use if you have an issue or what have you. If you have the style as a child style then choose "Get customizations made in this style and all parent styles" instead of "Get customizations made only in this style" when setting up the download.

As far as

the only way you will see those go away is to check those templates and either make the necessary changes needed to make them compliant or look at the template and click the save button if you need not to change anything. Sometimes you get those messages because after an upgrade there were custom code edited in the template and during the upgrade vBulletin will "flag" those templates so to so speak as not the exact template code that it feels should be there. This does not always mean its the wrong code, but you should check it to be sure.

I am pretty sure that the only way to download the templates from an add-on is to download the add-on itself (sorry, I'm too lazy to test that right now - too many things to do).

@HM666: I am not sure whether or not I addressed my issue or question correctly.
Here is a screenshot of the admincp (it is in german though, but I am sure you get my point)

Yeah took a closer look and no the add-ons do not automatically end up in the download. You would have to download them one by one from the same area, but it does not seem to give you everything from what I saw. The only other thing you can do to ensure that you have all the info and changes etc is to do a full database backup giving yourself something to restore if the site should crash, by hacked or what have you. Other than that you might want to ask a coder to code something for you to include everything when you attempt to download the style.

There was a modification here for vB3 I use called Template Manager. I don't know if it's available for vB4, but it'll let you download and import any number of a collection of templates from a given style.

Keep in mind, your styles will always be orange or red, if they're customized. No color indicates that your templates are the default vB style. Importing any new style won't change this.

Are that many of your modifications' templates customized? Have you edited all 24 of them? If it's really not that many, it probably wouldn't be that much work to just download styles for those particular add-ons. (You'd only have to do it once, per add-on.) Or, if you really want to be safe, just copy/paste the customized templates into a text document for safekeeping. I used to do this, before I started learning and utilizing CSS more. (The Additional CSS always exports with the style, regardless of what it's for.)
