Paid Mod-Request and get no plugin

Hello,

we requested a paid-service at your Forum and got a pm from a user who give us a pricerange. I try to act under your orders to be safty at a paid service and did a research on the user at the users profil, freelancer and some other sources.

The user had a good recommendation (most of) and I hired him.
I got a answer that I have to pay in forecast and the project would be ready within 1 week.
The user have also some free mods here with a lot of downloads...
No we are in the 7. week I got nothing but always I write to the company-support I got an excuse.
I had paid with paypal make the transaction to a buyer protection.
The company or the coder didn't react yet.

I didn't write the users name her on purpose, but what can I do to warn others and hopefully get my money back if I really get no vB-mods?

What could or shold I do else?

You can PM or email the person. If you don't hear back, you should submit a claim to PayPal.

What is allowed on here can be read in a sticky in the paid request forum - where this thread obviously would belong, too.

Since there's hardly anyone out there bothering with vB5, if you're looking to hire for that version, make sure the person has vB5 experience. Many things that were perfectly possible are not in vB5.

I don't see a request in the paid requests forum from the OP.

Anyway, all you can do is file a claim with PayPal, no one on this site gets involved with transactions between members.

I did read the sticky's and thats because I didn't wrote any usernames here.
I did write more than 20 emails an pms but everytime they write only an excuse and that they hope I feel fine. I think they wanna kidding me with every answer.
Also I file a claim with paypal. Hope that will help but they didn't answer it yet.

I will see what happens next.

Yeah it's sad, but sometime developers drop the ball and do not provide what was promised. Hopefully PayPal will work with you.

What that means is, vB5 is not up to par when it comes to developers being able to make a modification or plugin. Previously in vB3 and vB4 the plugin system was more in-depth and robust... it was removed and what we have in vB5 is not up to par.

So with that being said, anyone looking for custom modifications needs to check the vB4 versus vB5 modification forums https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=198 and make a mental note: "Ohh look, there's thousands of mods and template edits available for vB4 but only a handful ~50 or so for vB5" and think long and hard on that before you hire someone who promises you the world in a hand basket because it won't fit i.e. how are they going to make a mod for you - is it something that is possible in vB5? These are just some of the questions you need to ask anyone before hiring them to code any type of modification in vB5 because the ease-of-use in a sense regarding creating a plugin is not like it used to be and your "mod" that you want coded may not be possible however you're being promised the work again in yet another hand-basket.

Be careful folks and remember we do not become involved in disputes for a reason, we can't take sides and who's telling the truth you or the other party? We don't know for sure so we cannot and will not take sides.

One tip: Have an American Express Card? Associate it with your PayPal account and use it to pay on paypal - if you open a paypal dispute and it does not go the way you planned then contact American Express as they side with their customers and will more than likely ensure you receive a refund paypal or not.

I got the money back by using paypal customer service.

I read in some places that the plugin-system in vB5 will be replaced with a stable one in 5.1.6 or heigher...

Hope it will increase the plugins and mods for vB5 a lot.

Glad to hear you were able to get your money back.

I don't recall reading anything about any type of hooks system being added into vB5.

Sorry to hear bad experience. Paypal always sided with buyer in software stuff you have not to worry. You always get your money back.
